A bigger concern would be price and from what I’ve seen on these forums is that the Toyota Corolla Cross suffers from big markups although the RAV4 hybrid as well. The RAV4 is Toyotas higher volume vehicle and there is more wiggle room in price.

In my experience Toyotas have the body fall apart before the engine. If a new hybrid rav4 is $35k and lasts 200k+ miles, 5k for that car is ok if you need a car today and have a backup car, because all the surprise mechanical issues will emerges towards the end of a cars life. For reference a 2019 rav4 pre Covid base msrp was $25k. So i probably would have given up and gotten a Mazda CX-5. Subaru Forrester. The Venza is better looking, has the really cool panoramic roof with push button frost feature (something really unique for this segment), and the AWD system is able to put 80% of the power to the rear wheels which is great - the Rav4 can only do 50/50. The Venza looks better but has less space.

The Toyota RAV4 is a terrific car that doesn't seem to fit into any one category… The RAV4 interior is a lot more "basic" than the CR-V. It's well done and it looks decent, but it's far from the luxury look of the CR-V. It has more space inside, at least visually speaking, I didn't measure anything. The visibility is much better and the transmission is so, so much better than the Honda. Yes get em, it's a game changer it you've driven without them. But still drive slow and brake slow, you can get rear ended by somebody with all seasons. I would definitely get snow tires. In Ontario, you get a discount on insurance for having them. And the extra traction will give you an extra safety margin.It's literally nothing but a few gears because the electric motors are what vary the speed. Look up Weber Auto on YouTube and look for his video on the RAV4 eCVT transaxle. If you don't mind a dry 45 minutes, he goes into extreme detail on how the transmission works and how simple it is. 12.Lower center of gravity which results in better handling. Under my first year of ownership (~110k) the cylinder head had to be replaced ~$2-3k repair. At ~120k the ABS actuator went bad ~$2-3k That same year I replaced the front struts myself. Later that year the lock actuator for one of the doors went bad, ~$800 repairs. The prime battery sits partly below the floor so structurally it's impossible to put it into the hybrid.
